From scrap gold to finished product...

How does recycling and redesigning jewellery work at Redd line Jewellery?

For the best results refining old gold creates a better product at a better price!

• First, the gold is separated into categories as best as possible; 10kt, 14kt, for example, then weighed.

• Next,  the diamonds or other gems are removed from the old jewellery.

• The resetting of a diamond and remaking of a ring band runs at approx. $300.00 plus taxes. The break down would be as follows: $200.00  for the ring band, $55.00 for the setting and $45.00 to set the stone.

• Some custom works may be less and some may be more depending upon the materials used and the current market value of gold per ounce, for example.

• Please see the following example: Customer brings to RLJ lots of yellow scrap gold, ten gemstones,  and one .25 ct diamond. Customer wants a 
   rose gold ring  using the .25 ct diamond alone...

  karat  start weight returned at original karatage weight is 50% with no refining charges Your project needs 11 grams  of 14kt rose gold your cost 10kt 10grms 5grms-10kt 3grms  upgrade to-14kt 14kt 8grms 4grms-14kt 4grms 18kt 5 grms 2.5grms-18kt 4 grams down graded to 14kt totals the result is 11 grams of 14kt no cost scrap value is $100.00 to purchase this gold for your project would cost  $605.00

1. When Redd Line Jewellery supplies the gold,  the ring would cost: $605 less  the scrap value of $100. The remainder due would be $500.00 plus taxes.
2. When Redd Line Jewellery refines your gold, the ring would cost: $250.0 plus tax. Your refined metal is returned to you for your project.  No new metal is added.
3. The difference is $250.00 in your  pocket!

Why does  Redd Line Jewellery operate this way?  Because getting the customer a better value is important in building our customer relations.  Also,  Redd Line Jewellery gets to create great, wearable, art work in gold and diamonds!  And, Redd Line Jewellery does not have to stock a tremendous amount of raw materials.
